In 2019, Dr. Zhang obtained his PhD degree in the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBMS) with Dr. SONG Youqiang, in the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. His research focused on the identification of genetic risk variants for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and the underlying mechanisms of how the variants contribute to AD development. In the same year, Dr. Zhang joined the lab of Prof. TU Jie. Currently, Dr. Zhang’s research aims to understand the molecular basis of AD using multiple techniques including optogenetics and provide potential pharmacological targets for AD therapeutics.
